Database HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES

EDITOR You can run the DPP editor by typing ED <Enter> from the DPI> prompt. Here, you can create, edit, and save your programs.

KILL DATE The educational version of Data+Pro will stop running when it reaches December 31, 1995, the built-in “kill data.” Until then, it will work satisfactorily. To get a new copy of Data+Pro, see the information on the order form at the back of this book.

HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES

In the following activity
1.         Log the DP-PRO directory and start your database program by typing one of the appropriate EXE filenames: DP<Enter> DBASE. <Enter>, etc.

NOTE
Once the dot prompt is displayed, you are ready to begin entering database commands.  When the dot prompt is displayed, you are using the database program’s command interpreter. Your entries are restricted to known database commands. Your database program tells you when an unrecognized command is entered, enabling you to try again.

2.         Keep your database program running. If you must quit, type QUIT<Enter> at the dot prompt. This closes any open database files and returns you to the DOS prompt.
