A typical name
for a database configuration file is CONFIG.DB if you are using a product from
Ashton-Tate or Fox Software. You can use an ASCII editor to modify this file.
Remove the line COMMAND=ASSIST. One this command line is removed, the
ASSIST screen is bypassed and the dot
prompt is displayed each time the program is run. You can also remove STATUS=ON
if the status display becomes bothersome each time you run the program. If you
are using Data+Pro supplied with this book, you do not need to make any special
changes after initial installation, as it comes preconfigured for you.
INSTALLING
DATA+PLUS
Install Data+Pro as follows.
1. Put the companion Data+Pro diskette in
drive A.
2. Type INSTALL and press <Enter>.
3. Follow
the on-screen prompts. Data+Pro is put into the DP-PRO directory on your hard
drive (usually C).
4. Exit
Data+Pro (or “DPP”) by typing QUIT at the dot prompt.
5. Run
DPP by logging the DP-PRO directory, typing DP, and pressing <Enter>.
When DPP is
running, you can type DO MENU <Enter> from the dot prompt to run a menu
program. This program gives you instant access to the programs included in this
book, which are identified by section number.
